My documentary that looked into the harrowing practices within the unregulated patient transfer industry in Ontario sparked an investigation by the office of the Ontario Ombudsman.
My reporting revealed that patients were being exposed to unsafe vehicles, poorly trained staff and infectious diseases, resulting in the near deaths of some entrusted to their services by hospitals.
The Ombudsman’s report called on the Liberal government to regulate the industry in order to ensure patient safety. No such changes have been brought into effect.
