I am an award-winning independent writer and broadcaster with over twenty years of experience in print, broadcast and online journalism.  My articles have appeared in Wired, Chatelaine, Reader’s Digest, Best Health, Profit and others.

As a long-time contributor to CBC Television and Radio, the radio documentaries that I have produced for them have been honoured with several awards.

For God & Country received a 2007 Gabriel Award and a 2008 Amnesty International Media Award.

Back from the Brink received the 2009 New York Festivals’ World Gold Medal in the Health & Medicine category.

Tina and Kim’s Watery Road to Hell, which I co-produced with my sister Kim Pittaway, received the 2008 Science in Society Award from the Canadian Science Writers’ Association.

In 2010 I was awarded a Journalism Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to support my research on stories about post-traumatic stress disorder.

I currently host AudioMag, a podcast that explores the world of magazine publishing, for Magazines Canada.

A full-time freelancer, I am available for short or long-term projects for corporate, media or non-profit clients.
