Two years ago this month I heard the first of what would turn out to be many disturbing stories of what is occurring within the non-emergency patient transfer industry here in Ontario.  My reporting on this industry, mostly for CBC Radio, has uncovered a truly troublesome pattern of neglect and negligence towards patients who are moved between Ontario hospitals via these services.

Today it was announced by the Ombudsman of Ontario, Andre Marin, that his Special Ombudsman Response Team will be conducting an investigation to determine if the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transportation are living up to their responsibilities to protect those who come into contact with these services.
